World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for examplefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment that require less Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack characteristics of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their equipment even in the event that they don't know what will be improved after the reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a high chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs You will have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
The use of a Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance that a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage points, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive, even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up a lot of resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item is extremely important in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to raise the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. The player will still need to take every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment will require different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs listed above.
