World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.
For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level rises.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even when they're not sure what will be improved following a reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. item upgrader is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible up to 15 levels.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs as well as also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items lets players increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor can be transformed into a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This can be a disadvantage in that it could make the item more expensive if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have an initial level and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can waste a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. The item can be upgraded many times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is highly useful in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an item, it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting back to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like crit chance attack damage, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they may require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Each upgrade to equipment will require different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
